The discovery of Pinterest

Last Christmas I was speaking with my cousin about the Web( He is a computer technician, he works for Grappa Bonollo), and the way that the Web change our life. Making some examples, he referred to our aunt. She has always been keen in doing handcrafting works: she has always made clothes for her and for her daughters, she loves knitting, she loves art; in a way she is the artist of the family, the only one with the artistic side. Since she discovered Pinterest, she is a powerhouse of ideas. Thanks to Pinterest, she can post her own handcrafting works, they can be seen by other users and she can "pin" all the ideas that she likes!

When I saw that  the  e-lab was on Pinterest, I was quietly happy, because I created my Pinterest account to support my aunt, but I have never used it. I'm not a fan of social networks: I have  a Facebook account, where I don't post with a regular frequency, and a Instagram account. Pinterest has a different connotation, it seems more a "social space" where everyone can publish all the things they like. It's a virtual bookmark, instead of ripping a  page from a newspaper or a magazine with a recipe, a tutorial or anything else, you can just "pin" it from the Web, it's your personal virtual catalogue.

A day without social media

I have a smartphone since two years and with it the possibility of being connected 24 hours a day with the web world. It's quite difficult to think how was my life before having Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram; actually I was living as now, but without the fear of social media.
Being an Erasmus student, living away from home, parents and friends, it's a challenge to stay a day without the wireless connection. During the morning and the afternoon  it was quite easy to stay without a social media connection, because I was studing and hanging out with friends, but before going to bed, the temptation of social media was hight. So I connected the wifi. It was a  way to fell like being at home, speaking my mothertongue language and stay in touch with the people I miss.
